eFXC Round 4, 2015 – Wakefield Park

Wakefield Park near Goulburn is a short 2.2km circuit well-suited to the Zero SR.

Friday practice went well although late rain caused the cancellation of qualifying. Unfortunately the weather on Saturday was grey and wet. Qualifying second in the rain only 3 seconds off Danny Ripperton who had wet tyres was a good result. The track dried a little but with cold conditions the first race produced slow times from all in eFXC.

The second race on Saturday was the last of the day and was a lot more fun with the Zero trading places with Danny Pottage for much of the race before Danny skipped away to take third by 3 seconds.

Sunday conditions were greatly improved with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures. First out on track for the day meant the track was a little cold but everyone’s times were faster than Saturday. I picked up third place after Danny Pottage lost the front end on his Voltron Evo on lap one. With plenty of time before race four on Sunday afternoon there was some time to plan how to improve times for the afternoon race. With the best conditions of the weekend the final race and achieved my best lap times and a new electric record of 1.07 for the Varley team.

A good weekend with a four second improvement in lap time from 2014. Looking forward to upcoming races at Winton and Sydney MotorSport Park.
